Description Herman Viaene 2015-07-17 10:15:45 CEST
Description of problem:
Using printer configuration in MCC results in an absolute blank when it concerns a Wifi printer (an HP Officejet Pro 8100 in my case) and the wifi adapter in the PC is an Atheros device.
Trying to get the printer detected in CUPSweb or in the HPsetup, is equally impossible.
Workaround is to get to know the IP address of the printer and feed that in into the MCC printer configuration.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always.
I cannot reproduce this problem when the same printer is configured on another PC with Realtek or Broadcom Wifi.

On the 25th of July, Phillipem uploaded the following packages to
Cauldron's core/updates_testing:

    system-config-printer-1.5.7-5.mga6.i586
    system-config-printer-applet-1.5.7-5.mga6.i586
    system-config-printer-udev-1.5.7-5.mga6.i586

    system-config-printer-libs-1.5.7-5.mga6.noarch

    system-config-printer-1.5.7-5.mga6.x86_64
    system-config-printer-applet-1.5.7-5.mga6.x86_64
    system-config-printer-udev-1.5.7-5.mga6.x86_64

@ Anyone reading this:

* If this bug is valid for you in cauldron, then please test whether updating your system-config-printer packages to version 1.5.7-5.mga6 fixes the problem and report back in this bug report.

* If you do not have this bug in cauldron, but you do run cauldron, then please update those packages, too, and report in bug 18367 whether they work as expected.

Are you using drakx-net on all those systems?

If not, does switching from drakx-net to networkmanager or vv make a difference?

On the Atheros machine, I configure the network during installation, and I don't touch it anymore after rebooting.
I am in the process now of installing M5.1 on this machine, let's see how that ventures.

M5.1: detection of Wifi printer with Atheros Wifi works as a breeze.
