PeaZip is my favourite compressor for Linux, but it's not included within Mageia. Could this be changed? ... Please? ... It has a nice User-Interface and so on.

(FileRoller for example is "buggy" in my sight. I have seen decompressing errors with this program and I'm not amused seeing that a (really) working program is not included.)

@ the unknown

I'm not a packager, but personally, I wouldn't be very eager do something for someone who wishes to be unknown.

PeaZip has many advanced features and one of the biggest supporters. Fantastic being in Mageia repositories.

"Free file archiver, supports 150+ archive formats. Compress convert and extract archives, split, sfx, encryption. Open 7Z CAB ISO RAR TAR ZIP files..."

peazip is very good. The users can easily manage, open and extract Zip archives, unzip files, free Rar extractor (unrar), extract Tar files on Windows (untar), create and convert archives, create compressed, spanned and password protected backup, compress and attach files and folders, encrypt files, split and join files (file spanning), secure file delete.I think to add to the Mageia repositories can become Mageia much more sotisficated in comparison other distros.Whie we don't have it available we can use this code:
# urpmi http://jftp.medozas.de/openSUSE_11.4/x86_64/libgmp3-32bit-4.3.2-5.5.x86_64.rpm and we install like this: # urpmi peazip-4.6.-3.noarch.rpm
Why don't we have it on our repositories right down? Cheers.

Hi.
I know PeaZip is trouble for x86 and need many x86 python libs but its greate stuff. I like it.
I found some russian repo for Mageia 2 - and in ist surprise... PeaZip 4.8, fully working on MGA2 x86 and x86_64. I have test, its grates.

http://packages.mageialinux.ru/mageia2/RPMS/noarch/peazip-4.8-2.mrc.mga2.noarch.rpm

Do you can build PeaZip for MGA3 and ad to official repo?

patch for 4.9.1 source, to remove what look like new lib features

This is a little patch I wrote, which will get 4.9.1 working on Mageia3 beta 4.

Spec file:

Patch0: glen.patch

instead of the 64bit patch. And download SRC:
peazip-4.9.1.src.zip from http://sourceforge.net/projects/peazip/files/4.9.1/

I really don't understand pascal at all.. so please can someone that knows pascal check this.. This is why I have not committed it to SVN.

Comment 12 Sérgio Basto 2013-04-28 19:06:16 CEST
Hi,
I post peazip for Fedora 18 here http://www.serjux.com/peazip/

http://www.serjux.com/peazip/peazip.spec
is based on mageia spec, Glen adds pealauncher as well and I add also pea binary and also update peazip to 4.9.2.

Finally I could extract zipx !

ah I also build it with Qt since it seems has better support (than gtk3) , for that I also need build qt4pas.

Here the srpm package:

ftp://download.asso-linux-online.fr/download/packages-mlo/Mageia/3/SRPMS/core/peazip-4.9.2-1.mga3.src.rpm

It work very fine on mga3 for x86_64 and i586.
