Indeed, linuxconsoletools is just the new name of input-utils, and evtest was split off. As to why it isn't packaged in Mageia, I'm not sure, though the evtest dev seems to encourage using evemu instead, which we provide: http://who-t.blogspot.dk/2013/11/evtest-is-dead-long-live-evemu.html
I'm not conviced that evemu is the right tool for what evtest usually did, i.e. sniff for events to configure some kind of IR receiver or setup lirc. But I don't see a problem with having both, especially as evtest is quite uncomplicated to build. Best, Herbert
Changing to a new RPM package request then, for Cauldron and Mageia 5 (since evtest was available in Mageia 4 IIUC, it might be provided again via Core Updates in Mageia 5).
