Description batbajar gombo 2015-07-03 14:30:37 CEST
Description of problem:

I'm unable to control VLC media player through the web interface after online upgrade (MGA4->MGA5). With MGA4 everything was working with no issues.

Error message(in Web-Browser):

 Error loading /

lua/intf/http.lua:80: attempt to call global 'loadstring' (a nil value)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

#rpm -qa \*vlc\* \*lua\*

vlc-plugin-lua-2.2.1-1.mga5.tainted
lua-5.2.3-6.mga5
liblua5.2-5.2.3-6.mga5
liblua5.1-5.1.5-9.mga5
phonon-vlc-0.8.2-2.mga5
vlc-2.2.1-1.mga5.tainted
npapi-vlc-2.0.6-7.mga5
vlc-plugin-pulse-2.2.1-1.mga5.tainted
libvlc5-2.2.1-1.mga5.tainted
vlc-plugin-theora-2.2.1-1.mga5.tainted
libvlccore8-2.2.1-1.mga5.tainted
vlc-plugin-common-2.2.1-1.mga5.tainted

How reproducible:

1. VLC:
Tools â Preferences (select "All" radio-button) â Interfaces â Main interfaces(check "Web" radio-button) â Lua â Lua HTTP â Password(set "Passwort") â Apply (restart VLC)

2. Terminal:
# netstat -tunap |grep vlc
>> tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8080 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2451/vlc
>> tcp6       0      0 :::8080                 :::*                    LISTEN      2451/vlc

3. WEB Browser:
Go to: http://localhost:8080/ â username:_blank_ >> passwort:"Passwort"

This is either a bug in Lua/VLC or a missing pkg dependency after the upgrade - but I'm not able to inspect any further.

Since I was able to reproduce it with VLC-2.2 built from source , I reported it upstream:

Marked as fixed upstream... bug-fix release for Mageia coming any soon?

Thanks Shlomi!

I'll package it for Mageia once there is a new upstream release. Otherwise, I don't see this bug as critical enough to warrant a subrel update.

You're welcome.

Hi batbajar,

Thank you for having taken the needed time to report this issue!

If this issue didn't get fixed in Mageia 5, then we regret that.
Mageia 5 has officially reached its End of Life on December 31st, 2017 https://blog.mageia.org/en/2017/11/07/mageia-5-eol-postponed/
It only continued to get important security updates since then, because we are waiting for a big Plasma5 update in Mageia 6, that'll fix many of the Mageia 5 => 6 upgrade issues.

Closing this report as OLD, because vlc-3.0.0 in Mageia 6 doesn't have this bug.
