Description Angelo Naselli 2015-06-24 08:57:23 CEST
At boot it fails to resolve hostname:
WARNING: cannot connect to ipdetect.dnspark.com:80 socket: IO::Socket::INET: Bad hostname 'ipdetect.dnspark.com'

Restarting it, then works fine.

This seems an old bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506286
But at that time initd was used instead of systemd.
I'm using network (not networkmanager), don't know if
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/50-ddclient
is really run or not.
Comment 1 Angelo Naselli 2015-06-24 09:24:25 CEST
Fedora added also nss-lookup.target

After=syslog.target network.target nss-lookup.target

It seems to work.

I have uploaded a patched/updated package for Mageia 5.

You can test this by installing ddclient, configuring it and checking if journalctl displays this message.

Suggested advisory:
========================

Updated ddclient package fix ensure ddclient can resolve host name at boot.

mirror is not ready yet :/ I will test it tomorrow evening. Have you updated cauldron also?
Comment 4 Olav Vitters 2015-06-24 21:51:51 CEST
Cauldron already has the package. For a good mirror, try http://ftp.acc.umu.se/mirror/mageia. It is tier1, updates 1x/hour and 2Gbit/s
Comment 5 Angelo Naselli 2015-06-24 22:33:13 CEST
I had a failing restart after updating, but also netapplet was dead.

I restored net applet and rebooted, switching off my modem again and
It worked.
Comment 6 Angelo Naselli 2015-06-24 22:39:32 CEST
switched off and powered on again worked. It is fixed for me.
Comment 7 Chris Denice 2015-06-25 00:37:52 CEST
thanks Olav, I'll push an update for mga5 then, it is certainly affected as well!
Comment 8 Olav Vitters 2015-06-25 08:30:04 CEST
Chris: I did mga5. I built them on Cauldron, but pushed for mga5.

Ok, tested on x86_64, works for me. Thanks Olav.
May someone push it to updates then if QA team is satisfied?

Cheers,
Chris.
