Description Kristoffer Grundström 2015-06-18 22:38:39 CEST
Description of problem: If I freshly install Mageia 5 in my laptop Toshiba Satellite L755-1DR (PSK2YE-0CU01CN5) and using only Core Release, Core Updates,
Nonfree Release, Nonfree Updates, Tainted Release, Tainted Updates, Core 32bit Release, Core 32bit Updates, Nonfree 32bit Release, Nonfree 32bit Updates, Tainted 32bit Release, Tainted 32bit Updates as medias to install/update with I can't get an icon to appear once I've installed the plugin called ProxMate and it gives me the same result even if I install it from their website. When I use Firefox's search feature for Addons it installs, but I see no icon in Firefox and restarting Firefox doesn't make it appear either. Going to their website and installing the addon installs and tells me to restart Firefox and when I do that it still won't appear in Firefox. I have tested to install the same addon in both Opera and Chromium Browser and there it works to install and the icon appears in both browsers.

The addon worked in Firefox a couple of days ago.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 31.7.0

How reproducible: Everytime I try to reinstall it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Firefox.
2. Open Firefox's menu-button.
3. Choose Addons.
4. Search for ProxMate.
5. Click to install ProxMate.
6. Voila! The icon should appear when it's installed, but it isn't.

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

Comment 2 Kristoffer Grundström 2015-06-18 22:47:51 CEST
I CAN reproduce it in a new user account.

If it matters, the kernel I'm using is 3.19.8-desktop-3.mga5

I have successfully installed and gotten icons for DownloadHelper and Adblock Plus which I installed from Firefox Addon-feature.

What more can I check?

In the Description of problem part I wrote the word plugin instead of addon. My bad.
Comment 4 Kristoffer Grundström 2015-06-18 23:14:10 CEST
Is you visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/proxmate/ you'll see that it works with Firefox 26.0 - 39.*. 31.0.7 should therefor not have this problem.

Here's the link to ProxMate-github page if you would like to build your own version: https://github.com/dvcrn/proxmate-firefox

Looking at about:plugins I can't find ProxMate in that list.

Ignore this sentance as I thought that Firefox placed plugins and addons on the same information page.

As you see it seems to be installed according to the picture, but no icon.
Comment 10 Sander Lepik 2015-06-19 00:21:47 CEST
Works every time for me. Check that you don't have any other extensions that might conflict with ProxMate.

A workaround to solve this is to uninstall firefox and the locale-version of it and then delete the entire .mozilla dir in $HOME and then install firefox and the locale version of firefox.

It feels like it's a Profile problem in Firefox, but I may be wrong.
Comment 12 Kristoffer Grundström 2015-06-19 17:12:16 CEST
I CAN reproduce this problem by downloading the locale-version of Firefox from here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/39.0b7/linux-x86_64/ and then from the unpacked dir run: ./firefox. When the gui opens and you install the addon from about:addons and then restart ./firefox the problem still exists.

Sorry, Kristoffer, but such add-ons aren't Mageia packages. This is not for us to solve.
