LWP 6.02 no longer provides support for the https:// protocol, see http://cpansearch.perl.org/src/GAAS/libwww-perl-6.02/Changes. The support for this protocol has been moved into a separate module named LWP::Protocol::https, see http://search.cpan.org/~gaas/LWP-Protocol-https-6.02/. Mageia 1 doesn't include this Perl module, and so my scripts which point to a https:// URL all fail with the error: 501 Protocol scheme 'https' is not supported (LWP::Protocol::https not installed) Please include it asap. :)

The package has been submitted to Cauldron, once backports are open for one I'll submit it there.

Sorry, I forgot this one. perl-LWP-Protocol-https should land in core/backports_testing soon, please test it.

Ahmad, do I have to uninstall and then reinstall this RPM once it's in the core/backports directory?
Should it go to updates, as this perl module was previously available on mandriva 2010.2 ?

What was the package name on Mandriva? [dave@drew643 ~]$ urpmq -i perl-LWP-Protocol-https No package named perl-LWP-Protocol-https [dave@drew643 ~]$ cat /etc/release Mandriva Linux release 2010.2 (Official) for i586 Do you have a sample script to use for testing this module?

(In reply to comment #7) > Should it go to updates, as this perl module was previously available on > mandriva 2010.2 ? Good point, I agree.
(In reply to comment #8) > What was the package name on Mandriva? Mandriva 2010.2 has LWP 5.834: perl-libwww-perl-5.834.0-1mdv2010.1.noarch.rpm. In LWP 5.x, support for https:// was included by default in the libwww package. This support has been moved into a separate CPAN module starting with LWP 6.02. So Mandriva has no such package.
Package submited to updates_testing repository.

Could perl-LWP-Protocol-https-6.20.0-0.1.mga1.noarch.rpm be pushed into core/backports/ for Mageia 1? It's in core/backports_testing/ for 3 weeks now.
perl-LWP-Protocol-https is in Core Updates, as it fit the exception for packages that existed in Mandriva 2010.2, but were absent from Mageia 1. The copy in Core Backports Testing should be deleted.
Ping sysadmin team. Please delete perl-LWP-Protocol-https from Core Backports Testing.
