Description Shlomi Fish 2015-06-16 15:46:56 CEST
Description of problem:

After I install this system: Mageia-5-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD.iso with most of the default configuration from

shlomif@telaviv1:~/Download/Arcs/ISOs/mageia4-beta2/down/Mageia-5-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD$ cat DATE.txt
Sun Jun 14 00:45:00 CEST 2015

shlomif@telaviv1:~/Download/Arcs/ISOs/mageia4-beta2/down/Mageia-5-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD$ cat Mageia-5-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD.iso.sha1
5d560fdfa6f16cf310c1705e5470a4f391d8e1cb  Mageia-5-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD.iso

on a VBox x86-64 VM , I don't have any sound in either Firefox or an mplayer I installed and as a result pysol won't start. Disabling PulseAudio using draksound fixes the problem in mplayer.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Mageia 5.

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 Samuel Verschelde 2015-06-17 11:58:41 CEST
Please test the following:
* reactivate pulseaudio in draksound
* reboot (don't know if required, but just in case)
* kill pulseaudio with "pulseaudio -k"
* start it in verbose mode: "pulseaudio -vvv"
* run "pacmd ls output"
* try to run applications that use sound
* attach output of pacmd and verbose pulseaudio

If someone else reproduces, we can envision adding a note to the Errata for Mageia 5.

Note : the firefox issue is a different one, see bug 15043 and bug 16092

> Please test the following:

After doing that, the problem disappeared - pysol starts fine and mplayer plays the file with sound.

> * kill pulseaudio with "pulseaudio -k"

This does nothing.

> * start it in verbose mode: "pulseaudio -vvv"

This fails because the daemon is already running - I'll attach the files soon.

It would be nice to have a way to CC all iso testers who are interested in bugs that need them.

I'd be in favour of a isotesters@ml.m.o mailing list. WDYT?

Tested on 1e24917aca5c61615b6389f5f557fa5449f00ffff3d5e250508c0b801a6d6561f4738f466a51536879e23e535050d7c210db8203b36f35bfe43d7a9527217d35  Mageia-6-sta2-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD.iso

and the sound after an installation on the hard disk from there is working fine inside vbox. Can we resolve this bug?
