Description of problem: When energy saving is turned on in KDE4, a black screen does not light up after mouse movements. After a re-login to KDE4 the screen stays black. If I remove .kde4 it comes back after re-login, not very elegant. I disabled screen energy saving. If I now manually turn off the monitor, it stays black. The only way out: log into xfce and remove .kde4! It now works in KDE4 with the screen permanently on. It used to work until yesterday after some updates to cauldron. Can you reproduce with other hardware? FYI you can see packages submitted in the last 48 hours at http://pkgsubmit.mageia.org/ I see nothing related. Can you extract from system logs the list of packages that you updated yesterday?

I am updating 7 boxes to cauldron on a regular basis. The most interesting of these are a Brix Pro and the Aopen DE. They are both connected to the same Dell monitor. I am only sure that I discovered this problem with the Aopen box yesterday. Actually, I had already since a long time ago disabled energy saving on the Brix Pro. I could not bring it back from a black screen by moving the mouse. Instead I turn off the monitor by using the on/off button. However, the energy saving had worked with the Aopen, at least "some days" ago. Yesterday, when I had problems turning the screen on by moving the mouse I disabled energy saving in KDE4. I expected that I could turn the monitor on and off manually. But there was no video signal when the monitor was turned on. This is the real new point: the monitor is black, when I turn it on. Should I post lspcidrake -v for the Brix Pro? I can investigate any differences between the Brix Pro and the Aopen DE.

Energy saving works on an Asus Box connected to a different monitor. I have now removed .kde4 and made a new login to see if that makes any difference. Now I am turning to Brix and Asus.
Created attachment 6600 [details] lspcidrake -v for the GIGABYTE (Intel) BRIX Pro I made a rm -rf .kde4/ and logged into KDE4, again. Now the screen is turned on by the mouse, after being turned off by energy saving. I could also turn the monitor off and on manually, and the graphics came on. So it looks as if the Brix Pro is working with KDE4.
I am now waiting for the Aopen DE3250 (Intel based) to turn off the screen.
Very interesting. The screen comes back when I move the mouse! But when I turn off the monitor, the screen does not come back. My monitor tells me that there is no signal from the PC. I should press any key or move the mouse. The only way out is Ctl-Alt-BS, and a login to Xfce, so I can remove .kde4/ I am repeating the procedure to make sure that it repeats. It could have been like this for a long time, as I just moved the mouse, and it came back. I do not know why this did not happen yesterday. Yes, it repeats. The Aopen DE comes out of energy saving when I move the mouse. But I have to use Ctl-Alt-BS to get the login screen back. This problem seems to be confined to the Aopen box.
Are we waiting for info or should this be closed?
