Description Olivier LE ROY 2015-05-15 16:28:48 CEST
Description of problem:
No sound and Eaton UPS 'Intelligent Power Protector' fails to run after upgrade from Mageia 4 to Mageia 5 RC

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 5 RC
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]|Cedar HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5400/6300 Series]

How reproducible:
1/1 (after reboot, after upgrade)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade from Mageia 4 to Mageia 5 RC
2. Reboot

Upgrade went smooth. 2 packages caused errors at the end of the installation process (please see screenshots).

Upon reboot:

- "Eaton Intelligent Power Protector" is no longer running (for my Eaton (ex. MGE) UPS system). But "Eaton Intelligent Power Protector" is an alien package not supported by Mageia ditribution.

- Sound doesn't work despite examining pulse audio configuration. My sound card is Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]|Cedar HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5400/6300 Series]

Reproducible:

The Eaton UPS issue is solved: I updated the 'Intelligent Power Protector' RPM from http://pqsoftware.eaton.com/explore/fra/ipp/default_fr.htm?lang=fr&os=LINUX to version 1.42

rpm -Uvh /home/leroy_o/local/RPM/ipp-linux-1.42.109-1.x86_64.rpm

Source RPM: (none) => ipp-linux-1.42.109-1.x86_64.rpm

is that something we can fix in Mageia?

Hi,

The sound issue is fixed also.

I rebooted a second time, and sound is coming again. The issue is not really explained, though.

For the Eaton UPS, my "Evolution" is in the list of unrecognized hardware in Mageia control center, even though the Intelligent Power Protector: Eaton-IPP is started.

Maybe Eaton UPSes could be added in the UPS list, so that they show off recognized as UPS.

But when I downloaded ipp-linux-1.42.109-1.x86_64.rpm on Eaton support website, I had to accept a licence agreement, therefore I don't know if the package could be added in Mageia distribution.

I don't know about Eaton UPSs, have you tried the nut package to see if it is supported?

I'm changing the bug subject since the sound and UPS issues have been resolved anyway. We do still have the other upgrade errors to deal with.

I'm not sure if anything can be done about the umlgraph Mageia 4 package %postun calling $update_maven_depmap.

As for Comment 3, Nicolas, that needs to be fixed in the Qt5 packages shown in the screenshot. That's why I CC'd you.

It looks like qtquickcontrols5 needs to Conflict with the older version of qtdeclarative5.

Raising to release_blocker for this issue only.

Priority: Normal => release_blocker

For the Eaton UPS, I have tried nuts package, but couldn't have communication working either through serial link (RS232) or USB.

Therefore I abandonned nuts when ipp appeared in the support pages of Eaton website. And ipp does the job very well (graphs of input voltage, intantaneous power, remaining time, and automatic shutdown when below certain level...).
Comment 12 Olivier LE ROY 2015-05-15 19:06:04 CEST
But the issue is now about qtquickcontrols5
Comment 13 David GEIGER 2015-05-15 19:18:21 CEST
Yeah, In mga4 there are many java packages that call the script $update_maven_depmap in %post and %postun section.
And now on mga5 normally there should no more be any. We have dropped all of these old and no more needed scripts.
I don't know too if anything can be done for that.

Here is the log of install of new RPM:

install qtquickcontrols5-5.4.0-2.mga5.x86_64: success

mai 16 09:06:19 localhost.localdomain [RPM][25989]: erase qtquickcontrols5-5.4.0-1.mga5.x86_64: success

As it can be seen there is no error.
Comment 18 David Walser 2015-05-16 12:39:05 CEST
OK, let's mark this as FIXED then. The umlgraph issue affects many other packges and is being looked at in Bug 15942.

Thanks for the report.
