Description Kristoffer Grundström 2015-05-03 16:37:01 CEST
Description of problem: I noticed that if you have Ubuntu 15.04 installed and you want to put Mageia next to it Grub AND Grub2 fails to add the identified Partitions from Mageia to the boot-menu since this requires grub-install or grub2-install.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 16.90

How reproducible: All the time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Ubuntu 15.04 and update it.
2. Install Mageia 5 next to Ubuntu as well.
3. After reboot update Mageia 5 with Core and Updates medias.
4. Open terminal and login as root.
5. Type update-grub or update-grub2 which will find Mageia, but it doesn't add it to be seen during reboot as you need to type grub-install or grub2-install as well.

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

I don't see the link with the installer.
That would be a grub2 issue.
But I'm not sure it's a Mageia issue (which have grub2-install in /sbin if you choose to use grub2 bootloader).
Isn't it an issue with Ubuntu instead that doesn't support !grub2 installations?

If you had installed Mageia's grub2 to / rather than letting it overwrite the MBR, you would still have had Ubuntu's bootloader in the MBR and could have run update-grub in Ubuntu to add Mageia to it's grub2 menu. (assuming that Ubuntu has os-prober installed).
