Description Foss Fan 2015-05-02 10:50:22 CEST
Description of problem:
Could not boot in UEFI using USB drive network install disk created with IsoDumper

Installed Mageia 5 RC in virtual machine. It was up-to-date 2015-05-01.
Installed IsoDumper (isodumper-0.41-1.mga5)
Plugged in 128 MB USB with msdos partition table and one FAT32 partition
Downloaded net install iso from: http://www.mageia.org/en/downloads/get/?q=Mageia-5-RC-Boot-nonfree-x86_64-CD.iso , md5sum: a3c7ec619cd462c66a2429aede3d0108 boot-nonfree.iso
In IsoDumper: format, selected iso, "For UEFI boot", all went OK, no errors.
Plugged USB to new computer with UEFI.
Selected "Start Mageia5 (Claudron) Install" in GRUB
Got error:
error: invalid magic number.
alloc magic is broken at 0xc5bd3280: c5b41980
Aborted. Press any key to exit.

Black screen after pressing any key.

What I expected: Installer.

For me it's very important to use network installer. It was working about 2 or 3 weeks ago in Mageia 5 beta.

Reproducible:

When using virtual machine in UEFI mode and same iso it works (installer boots) without problems.

I tried this ISO, written on USB stick with Isodumper, UEFI ticked.
I didn't reproduce this error. The stage2 starts on real hardware, UEFI mode.

Thanks for tip. You were right, IsoDumper is fine.
My steps:
1. Checked whole USB for errors. It was OK. Used IsoDumper. Installation test failed.
2. Recreated msdos partition table using parted. Used IsoDumper. Installation test failed.
3. Wiped clean whole disk with zeros. Used IsoDumper. Installation test succeeded.

So it was z problem with my USB. I guess the problem was because this drive had GPT on it earlier.
