Description Bjarne Thomsen 2015-04-28 16:59:07 CEST
Description of problem:
Testing of a new wi-fi configuration hangs forever

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Successful fresh EFI install of Mageia-5-RC-x86_64-DVD.iso
on a GIGABYTE BRIX Pro Ultra Compact PC Kit.
The ethernet connection works fine, but there is
something wrong with the MCC configuration of
rtl8821ae : Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.|RTL8821AE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter

How reproducible:
Very.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure Wi-Fi for automatic dhcp of hostname and DNS.
2. The Wi-Fi applet appears, IP, Gateway, and DNS are correct.
3. But testing the connection hangs forever.
Afterwards the Wi-Fi applet appears when the ethernet cable is unplogged.
It shows the correct IP-number, Gateway and DNS addresses.
BUT nslookup of an external domain just hangs.
When I plugin the ethernet cable everything works again.
Mga5 works on all my other boxes with Wi-Fi.
Could it be the driver?

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

Does it work better if you run drakfirewall as root and select "All" so that there's no filtering at all?

No. It is the same result. But I tried to ping my access point,
an Asus EA-N66 Dual-band 450 Mbps.
I works fine from the ethernet side when the cable i plugged in,
but it does not work when the ethernet cable is unplugged.

Can you attach dmesg, lspcidrake -v and journalctl -b from when you try to use the wireless

Please also attach your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* (there's one relevant for your ethernet & one for your wifi -- they should be the two newest files)

Interface file for WiFi

-rwx------ ifcfg-wlp2s0

Notice that ifcfg-wlp2s0 can be executed by root, only.
ifcfg-enp3s0 can be executed by all.
