I have skype minimized in the systray. I play music using juk player. Now when a skype contact comes online or goes offline or if i get a skype message the music that plays on juk or amarok, stops till the message status box disappears. this is not in the case of my suse 13.2 installation. This gets irritating if you are watching a movie and someone comes or goes offline, vlc pauses then i have to unpause it. If i need to watch a movie i have to exit skype and this may prevent me from receiving some urgent messages.
If someone else can reproduce the issue, it would be good to add a note to Errata.

I can reproduce it on Mageia 5.
This is a bug in Skype incorrectly identifying it's "notification" sounds as "VOIP" sounds, which causes the "music" to be muted. If you look in "pactl list" when the skype notification sound is playing you will see media.role = voip in the property list. Sadly there is not much we can do to fix this. It's a bug in a close source application. If users do not want this, they should edit their default.pa to not load the module-role-cork module (which by default will cork (i.e. pause or mute) "music" streams when "voip" streams appear.

Reopening until we added a note in the Errata (with the workaround). Granted, this is an upstream bug, but better talk about it to have somewhere to point at when users encounter the bug. Please close afterwards.
Fair enough but this has been the case for at least three MGA releases...
Oh, if it's not a regression then let's not add it to Errata then.

Yeah, definitely not a regression. It's been like that for years. Sadly my Skype developer contact no longer works there, so it's a bit of a brick wall still.
