I have a problem with numlock staying off when i reach the login screen after starting my pc. had the same issue on Ubuntu 12.04/ 14.04 and i had to install numlockx to get it right.

Till now i had not but i just installed it and will try rebooting the sys and report back.

Hi Claire,

Installed the 64 bit version of numlock and restarted the sys. On the login screen numlock was ON this time so i guess your advise did work like magic. I feel this issue now stands resolved as of now.

An Errata entry advising to install the numlock package could be nice.

No reply, but I can't think of anything else.
Assigning to kernel group (assuming ldetect counts as kernel package).

AFAIK numlock is still not installed by default (and when it is installed, it's broken, see bug 18027), but it's not clear that it should be, so closing this issue as OLD.

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
