Description of problem: The microphone and sound does not work properly in the new Dell XPS13. The microphone does not work at all, while the sound is flakey

However there is now a fix for the 4.0 kernels.
There is a patch for sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c that was posted by Treffer

https://github.com/rtreffer/linux/commit/504c193d81504f001dff2617025c5738466d91c8
The 4.0 kernels however do not work well-- the tty loses sync when you switch out of X to any of them. This was a regression introduced back around 3.18.7 but which is not included in 3.19

The above sound patch is a patch for the 4.0 rcx kernel tree, however, with some finageling it works for 3.19.3 as well. Or, what I did was to import the file patch_realtek.c from 4.0 into 3.19, apply treffer's patch to it, and use that in 3.19.3. That worked as far as I can see. Sound and microphone both work.

I also know that Ubuntu/Canonical have just released a version of their 15..04 release which is supposed to solve most of the problems of this machine.

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install, and try to use sound.

It looks like the 3.19.4 kernel release in Mga 5 has ported these alsa additions. If so this bug could be closed. (I have not and am unable to test 19.4 since I no longer have the XPS13 machine)

Let's consider it fixed and reopen it if not.
