With online media added to the dvd, or using the boot.iso, selecting just the plasma desktop, as the only desktop results in an installation that doesn't show any output, at least in vb. At this point, I think the best option would be to not show the plasma "desktop" as an option in stage 2. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:

yep should be removed as it also cannot work if installed with kde
Well, it has been working OK - at least with real hardware... I even created an according posting in the forum currently at the thread "The magician suggests...": https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=9002

Or best add the missing requires to task-plasma

Also attaching your /root/drakx/report.bug.xz and relevant errors from journalctl output would be nice...

i would be in favor of not showing plasma for mga5 ( and only allow people to install via urpmi if they want ). We will work a lot on plasma for mga6 and mga5 updates
Help yourself: just remove it from SOURCES/compssUsers.pl in meta-task http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/meta-task/current/SOURCES/compssUsers.pl?revision=667077&view=markup
Source RPM: task-plasma5 => meta-task, task-plasma5
Thanks Nicolas for the input. Fixed in meta-task-5-24.mga5
