Description Lewis Smith 2015-03-13 17:24:54 CET
Description of problem:
As per the title and referenced screenshot.
Scenario: installing on real x64 EFI/GPT hardware from the Classic DVD; the video is AMD/ATI/Radeon HD 7310, the monitor 1920x1080.
This would stop anyone hitting the problem from proceeding with the installation, so it is not trivial.
In my case the almost off-screen buttons are just clickable, despite being quasi invisible.

This has been around for me throughout Mageia 5 pre-release, first reported in Bug 15272, that since closed (because the second problem there *is* fixed).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 5 pre-release.

How reproducible:
Every time on my system.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Reproducible:

Ouch, I wasn't aware there was no separate bug report about this issue :-(

Confirming it still exists, seen yesterday with a boot.iso EFI-install, on totally different hardware.

Humm.... Strange...

That shouldn't happen since:
http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/drakx/commit/perl-install/fs?id=f3c7c3356286dba238bac199ff6210a8e415a964

Which I'd tested by manually putting more solutions in the code.

I see that in your particular case, you've quite a lot of partitions that force a horizontal scrollbar but that should be unrelated

Well, IIUC from bug 15272, that fixed the missing options on the right in the diskdrake screen... and that is fixed!

You said there, in comment
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15272#c31
to open a new bug report about the missing Help/Next buttons.

This bug here is about the as good as invisible Help/Next buttons at the bottom of the doPartitionDisk screen

Comment 4 Thierry Vignaud 2015-03-16 12:25:07 CET
No.
What fixed the partially hidden right options was:
http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/drakx/commit/perl-install/share?id=a674dfbf7d8
(aka too wide buttons that "pushed" the other widgets too far to the right)

The 1st commit really is about vertical scrolling (as you can see, we now default to 'automatic' for both vertical & horizontal scrolling).

And it really fixed this issue: I tested it by adding more solutions.
I'd guessed the window jump might have been due to the window being enlarged in the wizard but eventually it really was in the next step (custom partitioning).

Lewis, when you see that issue, can you:
- plug a USB key
- go to tty2 (alt+ctrl+F2)
- run the "bug" command
- umount then unplug the USB key
- attach the report.bug file on that key to this bug report

Will do, but no time today Mon 16 Mar (rsync-ing the Classic DVD is taking forever, after a speedy start); will try it tomorrow.

Maybe the isos we used just didn't contain the fix, yet?

Today, when trying the "Two (many) /boot/EFI" patches added to drakx-installer-stage2-16.67-5.mga5, the doPartitionDisks screen showed the Help & Next buttons fine. And even the left panel when installing on real hw :-)

I am glad Marja seconds what I find!
I also, having just installed the RC x64 Classic DVD dated 15 March on real EFI hardware, can confirm that the two previously out-of-view Help & Next buttons *are* present & correct. So this can be closed satisfactorily.
Like Marja, I suspect that previous ISOs have omitted several corrections alleged to be in them. My update of it was 30% rapid, 70% straight download - suspicious for this late stage.
