Description Ben McMonagle 2015-03-02 08:39:14 CET
Description of problem:
When first logging into a new install of Mate desktop, the top and bottom panels are either completely empty or become empty when an app is launched from the panel.( in my case MCC )
If Icons are manually added to the panels, they remain attached even when system is rebooted.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia-5-rc-i586-DVD.iso
Feb 25 20:41:46 CET 2015

How reproducible: 2 reports have occurred on the current Mageia5rc pad.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.a fresh install of Mate only DE,
2.boot to and login to desktop,
3.check the panels, if not empty launch any app and it may cause the panels to empty

( Intel Core i5 Asus P8B75-M LX mobo w/ onboard Intel 810 or later graphics )

Reproducible:

Is that happened with Beta3? Also, did you had configurations left over from Mageia 4 (i.e. using seperate /home partition)?

Please provide journalctl output and .xsession-errors file when this is happened.

Does it sounds like https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1023604 ?
Comment 3 Ben McMonagle 2015-03-02 22:59:37 CET
this was a fresh install of Mate DE only - formatted / with no separate /home.
Not an upgrade.

Not observed with M5b3

Will reinstall again and hopefully able to give journalctl output and .xsession-errors file if you please give example of required commands or location of those files.

"Does it sounds like https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1023604 ?"

not sure that I understand what they are describing, but will check the error files when system fails and post here.

Thanks. I can not see a weirdness about mate-panel. Tough i don' t have access to RC iso. I saw that second round of isos are provided. Still same? If this issue persist please provide .xsession-errors file also.

I have just completed testing of 1 install of Mate from i586rc 3rd Feb
appears at this point to be behaving.

I will redo the install again and advise.

have just completed 2nd install of Mate from i586rc 3rd Feb.
updated and still behaving.

does this means this bug can be closed?
Comment 8 Atilla ÖNTAŞ 2015-03-06 10:35:19 CET
I'm not sure what do you mean by "still behaving". Does the problem still persist or you don't experience the problem with your two installs (comment6 and comment7)? If you don't experience the problem you can close the bug report as RESOLVED INVALID. I suggest to close the report as invalid because i didn't make any changes for this bug.
Comment 9 Ben McMonagle 2015-03-06 22:47:50 CET
issue has resolved itself

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => INVALID
