It's not really a bug, but it's a little inconvenient to me; I miss Xdialog, as I wrote some scripts using Xdialog which won't work with Mageia. I hope Xdialog can be included to Mageia soon. TIA Alf
Imported into Cauldron. Will be backported to one as soon as the BS lets me do it. But you should perhaps look for alternatives. Upstream has become a bit quiet lately.

Is this needed for Mga1?
if I'm the only one missing Xdialog, no it's not urgently needed. I can wait for it's appearence in Mageia 2. rgards Alf
Submitted into updates_testing, would you test if it works, please?
I could do that, but I'm not experienced in testing linux-software. Is there a standardised process? Or how do yuo expect testing protocols? Could You please inform me when it is released for update_testing, I've activated updates_testing but couldn't find the package. regards Alf
It passed the build system two hours ago, so it should hit mirrors soon, depending on when they do sync. About testing, just install it and do a few tests, if it works, then tell us here, and don't forget to tell us the architecture.
Testing complete on i586. It certainly isn't cdialog compatible, but after a number of modifications to a script that was using cdialog, it works. The srpm is Xdialog-2.3.1-2.mga1.src.rpm

You may also need to run "urpmi.update -a". If you already have a script that uses Xdialog, just confirm it works with that script. For each update, the amount of testing we do depends on how critical the package is (number of people impacted, and danger to their system, if the update fails). A minor package like Xdialog, we just confirm a few simple options work. Are you using an i586 system or x86-64?

Currently I'm using i586; I'll do some tests tonight. Thx for your reply.
Kernel: 2.6.38.8-server-6.mga Arch: i686 Release: Mageia release 1 (Official) for i586 I tested with two scripts. 1) ftp://ftp.mandrivauser.de/rpm/GPL/2010.1/i586/testing/plymouth-theme-switcher-0.4-1mud2010.1.noarch.rpm boxtypes used: yesno

All dialog boxes worked as expected and without any error. So I think Xdialog is fully functinonal in Mageia 1.
sorry for the multiple post; had some network problems.
Still need an x86-64 tester for Xdialog.
OK, will install X86_64 in VBox tonight (can't install x86_64 on real hardware because of some technical restrictions regarding bios and nvidia graphics) and do some more tests. regards Alf
Test with Mageia 1/x86_64 Release: Mageia release 1 (Official) for x86_64 Kernel: 22.6.38.8-desktop-6.mga Arch: x86_64 Machine is Virtualbox with 1 CPU, 2 GB Ram, 128 MB VRAM, 32 GB (virtual)HDD. (Host is mentioned in comment 10). Tested with the same to scripts as mentioned in comment 12. All tests passed without any error. regards Alf btw. if there are other packages waiting for testing, let me know, I'll do if desired.
Can someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm Xdialog-2.3.1-2.mga1.src.rpm from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates. Advisory: This update adds Xdialog, a replacement for the cdialog program for X, that was present in Mandriva 2010.2, but missing from Mageia 1. https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1533
