you should be able to log on text consoles (eg: just type altr+crtl+f2) then log on. You can then use "journalctl -b" or "systemd-analyze blame" and the like in order to see what exactly is the issue

CC: (none) => mageia
Summary: Live-DVD doesnot boot => Live-DVD does not boot

Conclusion:

1. -----------------------------------------------------
Mageia-5-beta3-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD.iso:

boot process stops:
xt_addrtype: ipv6 does not support BROADCAST matching

altr + ctrl + F2  -> user root /
journalctl -b -> no error message at the end

(may be problems with ati.cfg some lines before)

Command: startx  -> black sreen
ctrl + alt + del -> mageia does warm reset

2. ------------------------------------------------------
Mageia-5-beta3-LiveDVD-KDE4-x86_64-DVD.iso:

boot process stops:

starting update UTMP about System Runlevel changes
started update UTMP about System Runlevel changes

then machine freezes!

altr + ctrl + F2 -> no reaction, nothing happens
reset button: nothing happens
ctrl + alt + del: nothing happens

push on/off button connected to the motherboard (not the powersupply):
machine goes instant off (bios entry: wait 4 seconds)

3. ------------------------------------------------------------------
Mageia-5-beta3-x86_64-DVD.iso:

boots correctly!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a machine with AMD HD6750 graphics card.
AHCI enabled in bios because of WindOS.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Installing from DVD-iso or from USB-pendrive: exactly same result!!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

remarkt to point 2. above:

I had a similar incident on "AROS" (Operating System).
Because of a bug in the AHCI-driver (kernel-module)
some modules/programs crashed.
The AMD-ahci driver is different from the AHCI nvidia-driver...
(switching of F6: ACPI on mageia 5 does not help)
-------------------------------------------------------------

All the Mageia5-DVD work on a machine with nvidia-graphics.
Last working Live-DVD was: Mageia 4
I upgraded Mageia 4 (with all Updates) to cauldron as
described on mageia pages sucessfully, its working.
If anyone likes to have special log-files, please PM me?!
