Compton is a compositor for X, and a fork of xcompmgr-dana. I was frustrated by the low amount of standalone lightweight compositors. Compton was forked from Dana Jansens' fork of xcompmgr and refactored. I fixed whatever bug I found, and added features I wanted. Things seem stable, but don't quote me on it. I will most likely be actively working on this until I get the features I want. This is also a learning experience for me. That is, I'm partially doing this out of a desire to learn Xlib. Compton is very useful, for example for people having screen tearing problems with the default compositor of their desktop. Could it be packaged for Mageia ? Thanks.

Please don't set the target milestone by yourself. It is only for bugs or features that we decide to implement for the next release. This one, as important as it may be for you, doesn't qualify. It is a valid request but not more. Assigning this package request to all packagers collectively. On a voluntary basis, one of them might want to integrate it to the distribution and maintain it for bug and security fixes. Last commit for this project was 5 years ago. The last issue entry states that "the development on compton has halted" and "In addition, it should be archived to further make it clear that asking for support here is a waste of time." Closing WONT.

Good move: I noticed Mageia repositories now offer picom, which is the successor of compton.
