Another oddity; the preferences for the worktop switcher now lack the option to choose the number of workspaces.  A separate issue probably.

Unfortunately i can not confirm this on a Beta2 VM which is fully updated at installation stage and i did not touch mate-panel since Beta1.

I noticed that too and working on a fix. Please open another bug report for this.

I am somewhat reluctant to hose my home partition again so it will be difficult for me to test the doubling problem.  Have to put this on hold for a while.  Not much time for experimenting.

Shall make out bug report for the other issue.

Thanks Len. I have opened bug#15258 for the second (workspaces) issue and submitted fixed mate-panel for that. When you able to test please look at too.

When I next try a UEFI boot I shall wipe my home partition and see if a new user has the doubling-icons issue.  If so, the next test would be to restore user from backup and see if the old configuration removes the problem.

Meanwhile, checking the new Mate configuration against the backup shows that the new .config directory contains mate-session only whereas the backup has a mate entry as well:

This bug may have disappeared by itself.  I have just tried adding launchers from the system menus directly and by copying from the desktop and there was no doubling.  Deleted the top panel successfully as well.  The bottom panel vanished momentarily but reestablished itself with no loss of data.

Probably time to close this bug.
