5beta3 dvd 32, various desktop installations The nonfree nvidia driver is not being offered during installation. I'll add a report.bug.xz. The idx file shows they should be in the image. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
They do have the driver version as part of the package name now though. eg. dkms-nvidia-current-346.35, nvidia-current-kernel-desktop-latest-346.35 $ grep nvidia *.idx Mageia-5-beta3-i586 dkms-nvidia-current-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 dkms-nvidia304-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-cuda-toolkit-6.5.14 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-cuda-toolkit-devel-6.5.14 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-cuda-opencl-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-devel-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-doc-html-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-kernel-3.18.3-desktop-2.mga5-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-kernel-3.18.3-desktop586-2.mga5-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-kernel-3.18.3-server-2.mga5-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-kernel-desktop-latest-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-kernel-desktop586-latest-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia-current-kernel-server-latest-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-cuda-opencl-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-devel-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-doc-html-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-kernel-3.18.3-desktop-2.mga5-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-kernel-3.18.3-desktop586-2.mga5-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-kernel-3.18.3-server-2.mga5-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-kernel-desktop-latest-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-kernel-desktop586-latest-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia304-kernel-server-latest-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia340-kernel-3.18.3-desktop-2.mga5-340.65 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia340-kernel-3.18.3-desktop586-2.mga5-340.65 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia340-kernel-3.18.3-server-2.mga5-340.65 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia340-kernel-desktop-latest-340.65 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia340-kernel-desktop586-latest-340.65 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 nvidia340-kernel-server-latest-340.65 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 x11-driver-video-nvidia-current-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586 x11-driver-video-nvidia304-304.125 (i586)

The 11-driver-video-nvidia340 driver is missing from that list
Ahh indeed, so perhaps my card is now legacy :\
Same for both classic dvds and all nonfree seems to be missing from dualdvd $ grep 11-driver-video-nvidia */*.idx Mageia-5-beta3-i586-DVD/Mageia-5-beta3-i586-DVD.idx:Mageia-5-beta3-i586 x11-driver-video-nvidia-current-346.35 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-i586-DVD/Mageia-5-beta3-i586-DVD.idx:Mageia-5-beta3-i586 x11-driver-video-nvidia304-304.125 (i586) Mageia-5-beta3-x86_64-DVD/Mageia-5-beta3-x86_64-DVD.idx:Mageia-5beta3-x86_64 x11-driver-video-nvidia-current-346.35 (x86_64) Mageia-5-beta3-x86_64-DVD/Mageia-5-beta3-x86_64-DVD.idx:Mageia-5beta3-x86_64 x11-driver-video-nvidia304-304.125 (x86_64)
To confirm it, what does "lspcidrake -v" say for your card ?
dkms-nvidia340 package is also missing
and cuda packages, going by that list
Card:NVIDIA GeForce 8100 to GeForce 415: NVIDIA Corporation|GT216 [GeForce GT 220] [DISPLAY_VGA] (vendor:10de device:0a20) (rev: a2)
Yep, that's one of those that now need nvidia340
Good to have hardware for testing that with but still :(
Looks like my bug report #15179 is the same issue. GeForce 8700M GT card.

See yesterday conversation. Problem is adding non-free drivers just make size double the current one. We then loose interest of light iso. Dual was always intended to be advanced tool. So all in all we have to clearly define use case for dual in documentation. Also propose users to add online non free repo to get the proper driver if needed 22:56 < ennael> outch 22:56 < ennael> dual with all non free drivers: 22:56 < ennael> 2.1G /home/bcd/build_bcd/iso/Mageia-5-rc-dual-DVD/Mageia-5-rc-dual-DVD.iso 22:57 < DavidWHodgins> ennael: I can't recreate the mcc problem on a 64 bit kde install, nor the sleep/resume/shutdown problem. I'll try on an i586 install shortly. 22:58 < ennael> ok 23:00 < Luigi12_work> I don't see a need for nonfree video drivers on the dual. kernel-firmware-nonfree I can see the need for due to some network cards needing it. 23:01 < DavidWHodgins> Luigi12_work: My understanding is that some video cards don't work well without the nonfree drivers. 23:01 < tmb> yeah, only the firmwares should be on the dual 23:02 < Luigi12_work> DavidWHodgins: well? Who cares. They can install the nonfree video drivers after the installation if the free ones don't work "well" enough for them. 23:02 < tmb> if we start stuffing everything on dual we might as well stop providing it 23:02 < ennael> that's the point... 23:02 < Luigi12_work> exactly, it's supposed to stay small (of course I'd be in favor of not providing it anyway since it's still mostly pointless) 23:03 < DavidWHodgins> Especially for people who don't read the release notes, and then find they have no sound. 23:04 < ennael> so either we define it properly as small iso for advanced user and minimal environnement 23:04 < ennael> or we redefine isos content wich sounds weird now 23:05 < ennael> adding all drivers nearly double size 23:05 < Luigi12_work> yes, I think it should be the same as before for mga5, and then we can discuss dropping it for mga6 23:07 < tmb> yeah, sometimes it would be simple to do the fedora "we dont care about proprietary stuff"... 23:07 < DavidWHodgins> tmb: Do they provide firmware? 23:07 < tmb> firmwares yes 23:14 < Akien> DavidWHodgins: As far as I understand, the dual is mostly intended for advanced users (e.g. sysadmins) who can handle proprietary driver installation themselves if they need them. 23:14 < DavidWHodgins> True
So I guess this bug is RESOLVED FIXED for the part about missing drivers in the 5beta3 i586 ISO, but RESOLVED WONTFIX for the dual ISO. As long as we document on the wiki that dual ISOs do not come with nonfree drivers, that sounds fine to me.
