Description of problem: Missing "grive" package in repositories. There was available in Mageia4 with version 0.2. I'm using it in Mageia 4.1 with successfull to synchronization Google drive. The project is not developed since 1 year, nevertheless I think this is good idea put it to repositories, because it's hard to find similar solution. In "OpenMandriva Cooker" and few others distros package is available with version 0.3 (grive-0.3.0-0.2-omv2015.0.i586.rpm) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.3 How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Created attachment 6270 [details] archive includes: spec file and patches for grive-0.3.0 Hi I've attached tar.gz archive including spec file and all required patches which allow build grive-0.3.0 (https://github.com/Grive/), Could you please build and release package at least in Mageia Cauldron. I've retested grive, which I've built using above spec and patches. Build system was following: Mageia 5 beta 3 including latest updates on day 2015/04/14 I can attach rpm package if this is necessary. -- best regards

Hi, It was dropped from cauldron 7 month ago because it was not maintained anymore upstream, so we could not ensure we could maintain in the long run, in case of bugs, protocol changes or security issues. Looking at the number of issues and open pull requests, it is really dead actually. We can't include software that is unmaintained, unless a packager does the work to fix bugs themselves. Note: we have a mentorship program for packagers, so maybe you'd like to join the team and maintain some packages. Maybe not grive because I think it would be too much work to maintain properly, but maybe one of its forks or another equivalent. https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager Best regards

Hi Yes we consider it as dead, but it's still working (for me enough good), despite last update has been made at 2 May 2013 (as says info on github). Probably author dropped development or started develop commercial version calling it SyncDrive. Check out: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/grive-devel/rgzLYmc9TLI I can see couple of distributions have grive in version 0.3 (in official repositories). For example OpenMandriva Cooker and Ubuntu 14.10. And version 0.2 is maintained even in Debian (Sid and Jessie). Check out: http://pkgs.org/search/grive Of course I understand your point of view. And agree. All more advanced users are able to prepare package for yourself. I needed some tool to synchronize GD with my local system, because I don't really like clicking in web interface, but this is nothing comparing to what I found out today about future of grive. Because appeared sad news in grive forum: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/grive-devel/ZGEaKQfvG1I <quote> Will grive stop working when document API deprecated on April 20th Email from google with this heading: ACTION REQUIRED: Your Google Apps account is using the Documents List API, which will stop functioning on April 20th, 2015 I ran a check through Admin > Audit > Token on our google apps account and it seems that grive is using "/feeds" and "/content" Is this the end for grive as we know it, and what alternative do I have. Thanks Tim </quote> On end about grive forks or another equivalent. Google promise such application for Linux several years ago, and .... still promise, doing nothing (as I suppose). Some times ago I was looking for application to synchronize with GoogleDrive and from usable I found only some commercial software and grive. But there is ray of hope. As I found out from this article (dated on January 30, 2015): "Official Google Drive Linux Client Screenshots Leaked" : http://www.webupd8.org/2015/01/official-google-drive-linux-client.html Maybe this is rumor and maybe not. We will see. If after April 20th 2015 grive stops work then remains only moving to more friendly for Linux virtual disk service. I mean DropBox. I will think about being packager. P.S. Considering your answer I've changed status of this bug/request. -- best regards.
