Install was actually lxde & other DE by mistake. I cancelled when I realised and selected only Other DE but it installed both anyway. That's maybe another bug. I'll do a pure lxde install then a pure other de install to see where the problem occurs.
So it seems to be neither :\ It's possible that cancelling the package installation as it started and selecting different DE's caused the problem. Perhaps cancelling package installation should go back to the disk configuration in the installer instead of the DE selection. Also, now, 'Other Desktops' only adds Windowmaker so it might make sense to remove that option completely. LXDE installs come complete with icewm and openbox as do others. Closing this one though as invalid.

The script error is real, I reported that as Bug 14971. I saw your bug proposing to drop the "Other Desktops" category, and I agree with your proposal.
