Details

Description Martin Volf 2014-12-30 18:55:09 CET
Description of problem:
Installation (Install Mageia 5 cauldron):
=========================================
During installation some errors are appeared and then no screen (black):

[ 122.771460] nouveau E[ DRM] Pointer to TMDS table invalid
[ 122.771697] nouveau E[ DRM] Pointer to flat panel table invalid

By <CTRL>+<ALT>+2x backspace likes to reboot DM, but then fails and goes again to the terminal with faults:

[ 145.564805] xt_addrtype: ipv6 does not support BROADCAST matching
[ 177.825639] [drm:cpt_set_fifo_underrun_reporting] *ERROR* uncleared pch fifo underrun on pch transcoder A
[ 177.825691] [drm:cpt_serr_int_handler] *ERROR* PCH transcoder A FIFO underrun

Please press <Enter> (or <CTRL><J>) once the medium is removed.

Boot from liveDVD (Boot Mageia 5 cauldron):
===========================================
The same results, but possible to use <CTRL>+<ALT>+2x backspace to reach DM!

I created journalctl -b, please check.

FYI: To add a command xdriver=intel to GRUB line did not help.
Comment 4 Martin Volf 2015-01-18 14:35:12 CET
The same results are with Mageia-5-beta2-LiveDVD-KDE4-x86_64-DVD (15-Jan-2015 21:53). I can't boot or install from LiveDVD.

It helps to add xdriver=vesa only.

With MGA5b2 DVD no problem.

I think this is a dup of bug 15734. The errors about FIFO underrun (bug 14869) are a red herring.
