Noticed with gnome live iso too so not restricted to kde

Summary: Mga4 artwork is displayed between login and desktop, KDE => Mga4 artwork is displayed between login and desktop

Comment 3 Anne Nicolas 2015-01-07 17:10:59 CET
This is "normal" as we still miss some piece of design including KDE splash. This should be done tomorrow

Comment 6 Donald 2015-01-28 21:46:49 CET
Strictly speaking its not mga-theme that will fix this, its mga-kde4-config, however, I wont reopen as the new kde4-config is coming for tests now.
Comment 7 Anne Nicolas 2015-01-28 21:53:56 CET
you are right indeed :)
Comment 8 Barry Jackson 2015-01-29 13:14:51 CET
I noticed recent updates to:
Default-kde4-config-5-0.20150128.1.mga5.noarch Wed 28 Jan 2015 21:57:35 GMT
mageia-kde4-config-common-5-0.20150128.1.mga5.noarch Wed 28 Jan 2015 21:57:34 GMT
...however I am still seeing mga4 artwork immediately after login.

I renamed the kde user cache:
su
mv -f /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER"_orig"

but still no change.

Is there a .rpmnew somewhere that I have yet to find?
Comment 9 Donald 2015-01-29 13:37:59 CET
Is the animation showing correctly or is it a single screen that flashes before the animation starts?

It's the working Mga4 animation with bubbles.

Can you check the contents of /usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Default/ ?
It should have an "images" folder with the mga5 artwork. If not, there might be something wrong with my packaging, I'll have to check.
Comment 12 Donald 2015-01-29 13:53:32 CET
Something in the update is wrong then - I will investigate later.

In the meantime a workaround to this would be to set the theme manually in system settings>workspace appearance>splash screen or similar. I would give more detailed instructions but I'm on Windows atm.

See the thread on mageia lists for further discussion.
Comment 13 Donald 2015-01-29 13:55:25 CET
As I guess I would say that the .desktop (I think) file hasn't been updated to point to the new theme, that being said, the old images should have been removed.
Comment 14 Anne Nicolas 2015-01-29 14:04:05 CET
reopening it for now

That is correct with the new artwork. Also the artwork prior to the login is correct.

Comment 16 Rémi Verschelde 2015-01-29 14:13:17 CET
This should hopefully be fixed now with mageia-kde4-config-5-0.20150129.1.mga5
I had forgotten to "git rm" the 2560x1920 folder which contained the mga4 ksplash theme, and it seems it was use instead of the new QML theme.
Comment 17 Barry Jackson 2015-01-29 15:54:04 CET
As mentioned on irc the background is now correct, but there is no logo or animation.
I have done several reboots and a cold boot with no change.

Testing the update in a VM on a Cauldron install I see the same, although being slower there is more time to see what's happening.

After log-in the new Mga5 background appears for several seconds (maybe 4) then the screen goes black for maybe 2 seconds more after which the desktop fades up.

It seems that it maybe goes black where the animation should start?

Thanks for the fix Luc, I had overlooked this setting.
Comment 20 Barry Jackson 2015-01-29 22:26:46 CET
I can confirm that it works OK now on real h/w and in VM.
Nice work !
