Running amsn manually from menu with 2.6.38.7-desktop-1.mga as kernel & after a while the panel-applet of amsn disappears, but no crash & the program doesn't logout. I can try building a new version from source if needed.

"Doesn't logout" as in it's still running and you can use it to chat online?

aMSN-version is: 0.98.4
It's still running, yes. Checked by typing: ps aux | grep amsn
Which desktop environment are you using?
Gnome.
Oooops. Double-post.
And this "crash" happens every time you run aMSN?
I even tried a fresh installation & as I choose to minimize it to the panel aMSN seemed to disappear.
Doing ps aux | grep amsn confirms that it's still running. 500 11892 5.6 1.7 271240 59372 ? Sl 13:04 0:10 wish /usr/bin/amsn 500 14369 0.0 0.0 12964 832 pts/0 S+ 13:08 0:00 grep --color amsn

I installed debug-package to run it with gdb. This confirms that it is the same version: [root@localhost ~]# urpmi amsn-debug $MIRRORLIST: media/debug/core/release/amsn-debug-0.98.4-3.mga1.x86_64.rpm installing amsn-debug-0.98.4-3.mga1.x86_64.rpm from /var/cache/urpmi/rpms Förbereder... ############################################# 1/1: amsn-debug ############################################# [root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa amsn amsn-0.98.4-3.mga1
gdb amsn handle SIGPIPE noprint nostop nopass isn't working for amsn. Even tried gdb /usr/share/amsn or gdb /usr/bin/amsn What can I try next?
This time, when running it from Terminal/Console it isn't disappearing. Weird behavior if you ask me.
I even took a look on the setting to minimize in aMSN & it's gui & the box is checked.
