While testing different platforms, I noticed that this problem appears on the Broadcom Wifi sets, not on an Atheros. (seen in M4 and M5)
Comment 5 Thierry Vignaud 2015-02-06 11:44:33 CET
Did you use boot-nonfree.iso or boot.iso?

It does not concern network-installs, but the last configuration step of the classical installation DVD iso's.

In my case, using the M5beta2 i was not able to init wifi0 intel pro wireless, with ko ilw2200 or iwl2200 during the setup, to enable online repos, i not remember the module name very well, but after the first init, in MCC i set wifi and must config the dhcp timer in 60 seconds to get dhcp because the router is slow to assign ip, I get the same network problem, but i finish the config and the network is ok, may be this is a latency problem with the router, because in the propietary OS i get the same bahavior.

Round 2 of final x86-64 on HP-Probook 6555b.
Broadcom BCM 4313 and the device choosen in setup is wlp7s0b1.
Same issue during installation, but this time after reboot, the Wifi is not working.
Trying to configure it from drakconf (network manager or new network interface alike) has no result. The device does not see any Wifi server and initiate the ESSID manually (which worked up to now) has no result, no Wifi accessible.

If it's not working at all, it's a different bug, with a higher priority. You should open a different bug report for it.

This sounds like it should be higher priority. Thomas what do you think?

missing firmware perhaps? Is kernel-firmware-nonfree installed Herman?

The attached report.bug.xz is quite old now Herman, could you attach a current one please.

As to Comment 11: yes kernel-firmware-nonfree is installed.
Comment 14 Herman Viaene 2015-05-21 21:19:47 CEST
No issues with Atheros or Ralink or Realtek chipsets.

Installed broadcom-wl-kernel-desktop-latest, (this threw out broadcom-bmca-config), restarted the PC and then went to drakconf net applet. Now the chipset appears as wlo1, but after configuring, does not work.

Comment 17 Herman Viaene 2015-05-22 09:57:30 CEST
Problem solved, but I am deeply ashamed.
I did not notice that a small light on the laptop was not lit: i.e. the radio was switched off, how come beats me, I never touch that switch willingly.
So the original bug still stands, the installation procedure fails for Wifi, but once rebooted all is OK,at least after installing the broadcom wl kernel.

Comment 18 claire robinson 2015-05-22 10:00:21 CEST
Could you try the installation again please with the wifi turned on. It's possible it was just not found before and so the necessary driver not installed.

Wifi not working in the installer s expected really. The installer itself doesn't have any nonfree stuff.
Comment 19 Thierry Vignaud 2015-05-22 10:03:00 CEST
It has if you boot with boot-nonfree.iso ...
Comment 20 Herman Viaene 2015-05-22 11:04:39 CEST
I completely reinstalled M5 final round 2, and all is OK as expected for the Wifi.
Comment 21 Rémi Verschelde 2015-05-22 11:40:45 CEST
Closing then as per comments 17 and 20.
