Description of problem: As per summary, plus "Show desktop" icon is gnome as is systemsettings on panel (unless it was just updated in kde). Icons in Dolphin (started with krunner as it's not in the menu) has all Gnome folder icons. Will try as xguest and report back. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Don't know - just happened on my test Gnome i586 install. Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
xguest is OK. Re-naming ~/.kde fixes menu and icons in widget picker but panel icons are still wrong.
Created attachment 466 [details] Screenshot. Desktop and widget picker after installing and using kde. Only the background has been changed manually.
su mv /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER.old log out / log in fixes the panel icons. Rather a lot of hoops to jump through to get kde working correctly after previously using Gnome! Maybe some of these can be automated in the task-kde4 package?
Severity: normal => major
I can't reproduce it on a fresh mageia rc1 i586 installed with gnome per default (using the dvd) , & install after kde using task-kde All icons are kde's one None of the widgets are related to gnome.

You previously had edited kdeglobals manually to make it use the gnome icon theme, so it created an icon cache in /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER, so it's just another manifestation of the clementine icon bug.... About the menus, did you run LXDE at some point? is menu-cached running?

Yes - obvious now you mention it - see, you can remember but I forgot (I said I was getting old ;) > About the menus, did you run LXDE at some point? is menu-cached running? Never ran LXDE on that install. I'll re-boot into it and check services for menu-cached.
menu-cached is a process not a service, and it's only used by LXDE IINM. So if you never ran LXDE, it's not the issue here.
Is this bug ok to close ?

Yes I reckon so. There is an issue with the kde icon cache, but this is not the place to pursue it. Thanks.
ok thanks
