This particular problem has disappeared.

But video driver can not start because of
# grep '(EE)' Xorg.0.log.old
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
[ 65.343] (EE) Failed to load module "v4l" (module does not exist, 0)

I will be opening v4l module does not exists bug report.

Now Cauldron has kernel 3.17.2-desktop-1.mga5.
But on my computers AMD ( processors A1 , E1 ) fglrx do not work.

Configure your system to use the free radeon driver.

remove any fglrx packages on your system,

reboot

try to reconfigure your hw to use the fglrx driver
