Description of problem: The story is somewhat involved: I had disabled the screensaver, when I discovered that I could not unlock i by my password. Later I enabled locking of the screensaver in MATE Preferences. I then discovered that I was unable to enter Screensaver in MATE Preference: VirtualBox simply crashed! I had to reboot Mageia5 into MATE. Then I waited for 5 min and the screen went frozen black. I had to close the virtual machine. There is a simpler way: Click on Lock in the MATE system menu. Locking works in KDE4.
Duplicate of Bug 12230?
Maybe, but it apparently changed after update of x11-server. Now the unluck screen appears. But it claims that my password is incorrect. This is not the case. I still have to close the virtual machine.
Actually, a click on the preferencis menu for the screensaver still produces a black screen. The same happens if it locks by hitting the time limit.
I see that there are installed xscreensaver components for KDE4, and then there is mate-screensaver. Is there possibly a conflict between the 2 components?
Very strange: Now, entering the preference window for Screensaver in MATE produces a black rectangle in the middle of the screen, and it persists even when I log into KDE4.
That was much better! The Cosmos theme and some other themes are now circling in the screensaver of MATE. There is only one problem left: It cannot verify my user bassword, so I cannot unlock the screen.
The user cannot unlock the Xfce screensaver either.
Other than not being able to unlock (Bug 14194), is this fixed?
Yes, the screensaver works fine until I try to unlock it with my password. It claims that my password is incorrect, and I cannot get out.
