Description Kristoffer Grundström 2014-09-05 04:42:59 CEST
Description of problem: I just used the Alpha2 DVD-iso on a new Transcend 32 GB USB-stick and after updating without using Backports and Testing-medias I decided to login to MATE and then I connected the 5TB harddrive made by LaCie which uses GPT as a partitiontable. Nothing happened for a little while, but then the computer screen went black and spewed out much information.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Dunno.

How reproducible: All the time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download the Alpha2 DVD-iso and burn it to a Transcend 32 GB USB-stick
2. Boot the installation on reboot and install Mageia.
3. Choose KDE, GNOME, MATE and Cinnamon as DE's.
4. Update Mageia without using Testing or Backports-medias.
5. Login to MATE.
6. Now connect the 5 TB GPT LaCie harddrive.
7. After some time the screen will show you that the kernel paniced.

Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

Booting with this harddrive also causes the kernel to panic.

I don't experience this issue in Mageia 4.

When is that kernel supposed to be moved to Core Updates? I don't feel like using Testing-medias as I don't want to break the system even more.

I'm now trying to rebuild the src.rpm and it takes a lot of time and it seems to be missing a certain file in the linux-directory.
Comment 8 Kristoffer Grundström 2014-09-06 03:00:03 CEST
Rebuilding the src.rpm failed due to a missing patch, namely disable-mrproper-prepare-scripts-configs-in-devel-rpms.patch

And YES, it still happens.

Does it still happen in latest cauldron?
