Description of problem:

I recently installed the mageia rc, but I haven't been able to get past the login screen.  I have had the same result with distributions using the 2.6.38 kernel, So I believe that is the source of the problem since I am able to boot into older distributions with earlier kernels.

How reproducible:
Every time I boot, I am able to boot with the safe settings option
