I have a USB wireless network adapter, the Linksys WUSB100-EU, identified as Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1737:0078 Linksys WUSB100 v2 RangePlus Wireless Network Adapter [Ralink RT3070] During installation, the wireless network wizard only offered an ndiswrapper solution. I already tried this in Mandriva 2010.2 and it doesn't work. After booting, the rt2870sta module included with the kernel is loaded correctly, but no network interface is found by ifconfig. From /var/log/messages: Feb 20 19:04:45 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: firmware file rt3070.bin request failed (-2) Feb 20 19:04:45 localhost kernel: ERROR! Freely redistributable binary firmware is available from: http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=2 It is called rt2870.bin but after symlinking it to /lib/firmware/rt3070.bin I was able to successfully execute drakroam and connect to my wireless network. Could the firmware be included, or at least could the user be instructed how to correctly install the firmware? Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
It is already available on the mirrors. You need to add a public mirror with urpmi/rpmdrake and install kernel-firmware-extra from nonfree repo.
