i submitted manaplus-1.4.8.16-1.mga4 as a backport into core/backports_testing This is a game where the new client has features which have been added to the server since. (for features that have both client and server side features). Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
RPMS: manaplus-1.4.8.16-1.mga4.x86_64.rpm manaplus-1.4.8.16-1.mga4.i586.rpm evol-client-1.4.8.16-1.mga4.noarch.rpm
Keywords: (none) => BackportSeverity: normal => enhancement
testing procedure: - click the game on the menu (first run will do video testing, wait a bit) - choose server (you can choose "Evol Online" or "The Mana World". - sign in (or create a free account) - log in as a char (or create a char first) - walk around a bit, kill some critters, maybe get killed or something, see if everything is nice and ok :-) - if you start from evol-client (instead of manaplus), you should have a bit different look.
manaplus-1.4.8.16-1.mga4.x86_64.rpm tested on : Mga4 X86_64 Installed, launched and played for several minutes, all OK.

Tested on Mageia 4 32bit. Manaplus works great, I played both The Mana World and EvolOnline using the two flavours of the client. There's one point I'm unhappy with though: the desktop entry for EvolOnline has broken translations. All translated strings are actually translations of "ManaPlus", therefore the ManaPlus and EvolOnline menu entries have the same name. They also have the same icon, because the EvolOnline desktop entry has translations for the icon o_O and points to manaplus. AL13N, could you fix that and issue another release?

fixed upstream, new version coming, so i'll be putting that one on cauldron and backporting that one again :-)
ok backported now manaplus-1.4.8.30-1.mga4 desktop file should be fixed too.
eg wait, does mga4 stable version have this bug too?, if so this probably should be an update and not a backport?
ok, since mga3 version is rejected by server, we need a full update for both mga4 and mga3

In VirtualBox, M3, KDE, 32-bit Package(s) under test: manaplus evol-client default install of manaplus evol-client [root@localhost wilcal]# urpmi manaplus Package manaplus-1.2.12.9-3.mga3.i586 is already installed [root@localhost wilcal]# urpmi evol-client Package evol-client-1.2.12.9-3.mga3.noarch is already installed Well this didn't work out very well for me. Pretty bug William :-) I'll try to reproduce in the evening.
upstream reports that virtualbox video detection might be off... to test: - run "detect best mode" from video tab in options - restart client - also when logged in ingame (evol online), in chat window: try to do /uploadlog and /uploadconfig as chat commands. this will upload to the server (and the developer in question has access to the server). - also, upstream thinks that opengl attributes like max texture size are not reported correctly, so he probably will add workaround.
(In reply to AL13N from comment #18) > to test: > - run "detect best mode" from video tab in options > - restart client Wow did the same thing. If I remember we were having the same kind of problem ( cursor tails ) in Gnome during M4 development.
@wilcal: could you do /uploadlog and /uploadconfig as chat commands inside the game? and post the links here?
@wilcal: upstream tells me it might be interesting to "enable opengl log" i the setup you can find this in the "misc" tab after that, you will have to restart client to trigger the bug in the logs then do /uploadlog and /uploadconfig as chat commands inside the game and post the resulting links here, or privately on IRC to me, i'll forward them to upstream (or you can tell him in #manaplus at IRC (freenode) too)
@wilcal do you have the same error in the version from release media? @AL13N do you want to wait for a fix for wilcal's bug?

it's likely vbox detection, so it's probably always been this problem. i don't need to wait for it. but, the developer was kind of waiting on those results, and it would've been nice if he has this, so that it can get fixed. but it might as well be that the fix isn't that easy, and that it might take 2 months or more to get fixed (if ever), so... it'd be nice to have response to pass it on (or communicate directly to IRC (freenode #manaplus channel)
Testing on MGA3 x86_64 (NVIDIA graphics) manaplus-1.4.8.30-1 Tried the two clients Evol Online and The Mana World Followed the procedure as in comment #2 Apart from being killed a lot, all went well and ran smooth. Good for me.

Installed in VirtualBox for mga4 32bit. Really did not have a clue. Registered with Mana World and ran Evol client. Pressed play.... Absolutely no idea what to do with the alien character created but things started to happen. So it is probably OK.
