Created attachment 5335 [details] journalctl -b booting the pre-Mageia 5 alpha 2 Gnome CD (32bits) on this system https://wiki.mageia.org/en/User:Marja/QA/Hardware#IBM_ThinkPad_R50e ends with "Oh no! Something has gone wrong." etc. rebooted and added "systemd.unitâmulti-user.target" to the kernel options, and then started prefdm.service from the konsole, but that gave the same error. I then switched to tty2 or 3 and tried to (re)start (pref)dm.service a few times, but other than in bug 13687, that didn't work here. I'll attach the "journalctl -b" output from the "systemd.unitâmulti-user.target" boot There are some segfaults like this one: Aug 09 22:25:11 localhost kernel: gnome-session-c[3817]: segfault at 4 ip b6e36905 sp bfb5d7a0 error 4 in i915_dri.so[b6bb0000+591000]
Whiteboard: (none) => 5alpha2
for the record, the KDELiveCD did not get those crashes in Live mode on the same laptop
s/those/similar/ doesn't KDE use i915_dri.so?
Is it still valid Marja? If so, is it a duplicate of the other "Oh no" bug that has had lots of activity recently?

Closing as old, I'm not sure whether I tried a GnomeLiveCD again on that system. Will test if I find time, and reopen when needed (and not already covered by another open bug)
