Description of problem: Configurator starts my downloading/installing various printer packages (in the process indicating that it *has* found a printer) but then leaves the user with just the 'Add Printer' option. When Add Printer is then selected, it shows only: - LPT #1 (for connections via Parellel Port) - URL - Network as if no USB printer detected. Only when 'Network' is selected does it show that it knows very well what (USB) printer is there! Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): As above How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Execute system-config-printer (direct or via MCC/Hardware/Config Printer) (Note if printer is e.g. HP, it installs some HP software) 2. When downloads/installs finished, see 'Add Printer' as main option (instead of automatic configuration of detected printer) 3. In Add Printer, no sign of 'USB printer', until 'Network' is selected. Only then can printer it obviously already knows about be selected. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:

The package has been updated a few times since this was filed and is now at version 1.5.3. Is this bug still valid?

Will re-test with latest ISO this evening.
> Will re-test with latest ISO this evening. Just about to do that with 31/10 version when I see a new set of Clasic DVD's is available, so will download 64-bit this evening and test tomorrow.
> will download 64-bit this evening and test tomorrow. Just tried the Nov.5 64-bit KDE classical DVD. After reboot and s/w update, system-config-printer (1.5.3-1.mga5) did install CUPS etc, but 'Add Printer' still hangs forever on "Searching for drivers", though it does list the printer. So still cannot complete installation of printer. (No problem on Mageia-4.)
OK, so we're left with the hanging on "Searching for drivers" now, which is Bug 14440. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 14440 ***
