Same problem on 64 bit...

Hardware: i586 => All

Comment 2 David Walser 2014-06-02 16:04:23 CEST
Does this actually cause any problems? This will happen if you don't have internet connectivity when it tries to install flash-player-plugin. You said non-fatal, so I'm guessing it doesn't really cause any problems.

Summary: install error (non-fatal) => flash-player-plugin may fail to install during Mageia installation

Comment 3 Pierre Fortin 2014-06-02 17:25:00 CEST
Since 'net connectivity isn't even attempted/established until later in the install process; this will never succeed -- so why is it even attempted? :)
The "problem" is that it requires a useless user interaction -- at least it's at the end of the install; not at the beginning where it would cause installation delays.
Comment 4 Manuel Hiebel 2014-09-21 15:22:06 CEST
Anssi, Thierry, maybe we can decrease from 5 to 3 in rpmsrate so it's not installed as default ?

I just encountered this bug while installing a current Cauldron x86_64 system via boot.iso. Got the aforementioned error message in an installer notification window - IMHO an inexperienced user might be quite troubled by it.

I had enabled all available repositories and I'm guessing that Flash was pulled in automatically, because I certainly did not select it manuallt...

Mageia 4 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-09-19. It is is no longer
maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug
fix updates.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to
fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later
Mageia version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we weren't
able to fix it before Mageia 4's end of life. If you are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and
change it against that version of Mageia. If it's valid in several versions,
select the highest and add MGAxTOO in whiteboard for each other valid release.
Example: it's valid in cauldron and Mageia 5, set to cauldron and add MGA5TOO.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime,
sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia
release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

If you would like to help fixing bugs in the future, don't hesitate to join the
packager team via our mentoring program [1] or join the teams that fit you
most [2].

Installed mga5(i586) on an old laptop to replace WinXP. Problem still exists.

Version: 4 => 5

Comment 8 aguador 2016-09-13 01:25:14 CEST
Since this remains open, I will note that it still occurs with a netinstall of Cauldron (Mageia 6). I don't know if the problem is related to network status or the need to accept Adobe's EULA. However, this was reported and resolved in M3 by deleting the plugin from the install process (Bug 8367). This seems a more than reasonable solution given a) the perennial security problems with flash and b) the warnings people will receive in most cases where the plugin is needed.

Comment 9 Pierre Fortin 2016-11-16 16:28:58 CET
Will have to try another install; but it seems like install tries to find the package in core/release; but it resides in nonfree/release...
Comment 10 Thierry Vignaud 2016-11-16 17:06:18 CET
(In reply to David Walser from comment #2)
> Does this actually cause any problems? This will happen if you don't have
> internet connectivity when it tries to install flash-player-plugin.

This will also happen when a new release of the plugin is released...
Comment 11 Pierre Fortin 2016-11-16 18:36:48 CET
During a boot.iso install/upgrade, there is no 'net connectivity at this point.
A new release of the plugin is orthogonal to the currently being installed s/w as there is no network yet; although it could be done during update step after network config.
Comment 12 Pierre Fortin 2016-11-27 15:40:17 CET
Hmm... if net connectivity does exist, looks like the adobe server is the problem...
