Description Pierre Fortin 2014-05-31 04:00:35 CEST
Description of problem: (this issue does not exist on 32 bit version)

Per https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Installation_Media#Dump_Mageia_ISO_on_a_USB_flash_drive.3F used isodumper to created bootable USB ISO from .../install/images/boot.iso; but on first write, I got "isolinux.bin missing or corrupt". Re-wrote USB with 32 bit version which worked. So re-wrote 64 bit version again, and it worked this time... (I *hate* one-time failures).

Installing an a new Dell Inspiron 17R (5737) fails trying to read:
   /tmp/image/media/core/release/media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz but...
        ^^^^^
Since I told the installer that my local repo is on an external drive in:
   distros/remote/mageia/distrib/4/x86_64   <==MYPATH
the file is actually in:
   /tmp/media/<MYPATH>/media/core/release/media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz
        ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
so the install fails...

Log at F3 contains:
* comparing /tmp/image/media/core/release/media_info/MD5SUM and /mnt/var/lib/urmpi/MD5SUM.Core Release
* copying MD5SUM file of "Core Release"...
* copying [/tmp/image/media/core/release/media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz] for medium "Core Release"...
* ...copying done
* computing md5sum or retrieved source synthesis
* urpmi error: retrieval of [/tmp/image/media/core/release/media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz] failed (md5sum mismatch)
* urpmi error: problem reading synthesis file of medium "Core Release"
* updating media failed

Which raises these questions:
1. did copy of MD5SUM actually succeed?
2. why do I get "...copying done" on a non-existant file?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:  always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create USB ISO boot image with isodumper
2. boot, specify path to repo
3. follow install steps until Media Selection

After more digging, it appears the problem is indeed an md5sum mismatch...

What's especially disconcerting is this:
# ll MD*
-rw-r--r-- 1 pfortin pfortin 576 Jan 29 17:54 MD5SUM
-rw-r--r-- 1 pfortin pfortin 576 Feb  6 17:59 MD5SUM.bad

So, apparently a bad MD5SUM was installed on Feb 6 and the correct one from Jan 29 has been restored... (?)

At least, now I can get past this point in the install, BUT... only to be still blocked by bug 10162 (64 bit install looking for "Core 32bit Release"). :(

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => FIXED
