The OS list give a nice Icon according to the selected OS, and some hardware tweaks. There is Mandriva, but no Mageia. We should add or identity to the most used virtualizer in Linux.
Upstream bug, it doesn't have a Mageia in the list. Maybe we should ask upstream to add our distro to the list, our appeal will have a stronger ground after the first official release gets out there.

heh, I started to create a patch for this to send upstream, but forgot to finalize it ... I'll see if I can dig it up.

Why not start by s/Mandriva/Mageia/ in http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/virtualbox/current/SOURCES/virtualbox-default-to-mandriva.patch?revision=1459&view=markup ?

It's not enough. That patch depends on existing Mageia support in virtualbox, something my patch will add.
Could you attach URL of the upstream BR?

" status changed from new to closed. resolution set to wontfix. As far as I know, Mageia is a variant on Mandriva, isn't it? The OS type is mainly to tell VirtualBox to adjust a few (very few) parameters to fit the guest it is to run, so selecting Mandriva should be quite good enough here. "
Thus my suggestion to use a variant of the mdv patch...

I have added Mageia support in virtualbox-4.0.14-1.2.mga1 currently in core/updates_testing I have added Mageia support in virtualbox-4.1.4-3.mga2 in Cauldron I have also reopened the upstream ticket and added the patches and icons used in virtualbox-4.1.4-3.mga2 with a request for upstream inclusion. So I consider this bug fixed.
