Package mesa-10.0.3-1.mga4.tainted.i586 is already installed

Something, anything of a proceedure to confirm that this is
a successfull install and upgrade. Thanks.

For me this update works fine.
Testing complete for mga4 32-bit & 64-bit
Validating the update.
Could someone from the sysadmin team push this to updates.
Thanks

Are you sure we can push this? I can't see any test of the bugs listed by Thierry in the advisory...

"This list is likely incomplete"
This could go on forever.
Comment 8 user7 2014-04-05 23:55:49 CEST
IINM, this is quite a central package, so we should wait for some more widespread testing before pushing it. Also, IINM, this package interacts with the graphics card drivers and should therefore be tested on real hardware, not in a virtual machine.

Clearing the whiteboard for now, feel free to revert if I'm wrong.

Testing on MGA4, i586. I will report back in a few days.

Tested on mga4 x86_64, Real hardware not vbox

MSI 99XA-GD55
Phenom II x4 overclocked to 3.8Ghz
MSI Radeon HD 6770
MSI Radeon HD 5770

tested using fglrx driver, fglrx driver in crossfire mode, and ati driver

Found/saw no issues with egoboo or chromium-bsu.
Frankly I am not going to take the needed time to download and test with
Metro: Last Night (I can test that app on mga5 but not mga4)

Comment 10 claire robinson 2014-04-07 07:44:33 CEST
As it's a new upstream release which fixes the bugs rather than a patch being added to fix those bugs we normally just test for any obvious regressions. We don't aim to duplicate upstream QA work.

The tests so far are good. Mesa needs to work in VB aswell as on real HW. The wider the test, the better though. This is one, as with the kernels, which can't be properly tested in Vbox alone.

Please everybody, install the packages and ensure 3D applications/games or the mesa demos still work well with both mesa in core updates testing and from tainted updates testing, which is not listed in the advisory but does exist.
Comment 11 user7 2014-04-07 14:37:39 CEST
Tested complete on MGA4, i586, real hardware - no regressions noticed

graphics card: Intel GM 45 chipset

Tested using intel drivers, and mesa from updates_testing. No regressions noticed, testing mostly 3D games (also KDE desktop effects).

I am now testing the packages from tainted/updates_testing, will report back in a few days.
Comment 12 Charles Edwards 2014-04-07 20:13:09 CEST
My testing in Comment 10 were done using mesa tainted/updates_testing.

There were no issues then nor have any occurred since the installation.

Hi there,
tested in x84_64 with
NVIDIA Corporation G92GL [Quadro FX 3700] (rev a2)

Tested various mesa-demos progs; most of them run fine; but a few are crashing (it may have been there before though). For normal usage, I did not spot anything wrong.

I think we should push this one. Any individual problems
should be separate bugs.

Mesa 10.0.5 just got released: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-announce/2014-April/000081.html

Should we go on with this update candidate (thus IMHO push it, since noone reported regressions on a variety of hardware) or should we wait for a package of the new version?
Comment 19 Thomas Backlund 2014-04-19 17:53:19 CEST
I think the best thing to do is respin 10.0.5 as there are some important fixes in it.

And according to the above announce mail:

NOTE: Since the 10.1.1 release is being released concurrently, it is
anticipated that 10.0.5 will be the final release in the 10.0
series.

I'll push the 10.0.5 to the BS

And a suggested advisory:

Updated mesa packages fixes various upstream bugs

This update provides upstream mesa 10.0.5 maintenace release, fixing
application crashes, integer and buffer overflows, use-after-free and
null pointer bugs and improper hardware setups.

For more details about the fixes, see the refernced announce mails and
the git log.

For me this update works fine.
Testing complete for mga4 32-bit & 64-bit
Validating the update.
Could someone from the sysadmin team push this to updates.
Thanks

Dropping validation...

We need more than one tester on the 10.0.5 build

note, the mesa 10.0.5 packages will also be on the rebuilt mga4.1 test isos

Just to add another "testing status"...

I've been running these on a mga4 64bit install using Intel Ivy Bridge graphics since 2014-04-19

Updated mesa-10.0.5 from /tainted/updates/testing

Tested with program Stellarium 0.12.2; Mageia 4 i586.

In comparison with mesa-10.0.2 from /tainted/release there is no change or further regression - Stellarium background is still light grey and no sky image is shown. The menus are OK. From Stellarium log.txt:

Going to initialize the OpenGL 2 renderer
OpenGL supported version: "1.3 Mesa 10.0.5"
Qt GL paint engine is: "OpenGL"
StelQGL2Renderer::init : Failed because Qt paint engine is not OpenGL2
If paint engine is OpenGL3 or higher, this code needs to be updated
Failed to initialize the OpenGL 2 renderer, falling back to the OpenGL 1 renderer
OpenGL supported version: "1.3 Mesa 10.0.5"
Qt GL paint engine is: "OpenGL"
GL vendor is "Intel Open Source Technology Center"
GL renderer is "Mesa DRI Intel(R) 865G x86/MMX/SSE2"

This must be related to the current hardware: Intel(R) 865G x86/MMX/SSE2 as using my laptop (Thinkpad X200) and mesa-10.0.2 from /tainted/release, Stellarium 0.12.2 works OK.

On the tested here hardware I can still use stellarium-0.11.4-0.alpha.2.mga3 -> log.txt:
OpenGL supported version: "1.3 Mesa 10.0.5"
Qt GL paint engine is: "OpenGL"

So in related to running Stellarium 0.12.2, there is no change in update from mesa-10.0.2 to mesa-10.0.5 and as such the current mesa bug fixes update report is not very usefull...
