Description Gerry 2014-03-19 12:10:24 CET
Description of problem:

All I need to do is run Update System from your Conrol Panel - It does not WORK :-(

I expect to just hit the update button ? New releale included.

Stop pretending to have testing and developmen intragration.

If it works, it works.

I just point and click (Mandreke, Mandriva and now you !!!

If people are open and honest with me, I can sometimes point them in the right Direction.

If this is just a playground for tech,s then let me kwow.

I will revert to some other distro.

Shame really, it would seem that Mandrake has finally died.

Kind regards,

Snoopy911

Just normal boot on a dual boot machine.

When I look you up, I am offered the option to Download V4, yet the Control Panel settingings have been set to Download NEW Releases AUTOMATICALLY ?

Obviouly, your' tech team DO NOT UNDERSTAND what update means.

Guess I will have to revert to the last stable verision of Mandrake/Mandriva.

Or just use Kanokix

Regards

Gerard

We pretend to be a community distro, which means that every user is supposed to be a contributor in one way or another: we make and use Mageia together.

The core of our QA team works extremely hard to test everything that goes into a stable Mageia release.

Our developers work extremely hard, too, and so do many others around. Many of us have put thousands of hours, without getting paid, to help make Mageia. And developers and QA team *do* work together. Your remark hurts!

Now to your problem.

Thanks for reporting it. Despite the hard work of our QA team, it is impossible to test every possible combination of hardware and software, so yes: sometimes bugs do slip through.

Your bug is not completely clear to me, though.

You start MCC and then click on "Update your System" and then you see Mageia 4 packages selected instead of Mageia 3 ones?

Maybe a screenshot would make it more clear what you see?

Just guessing. Are you talking about the blue update advice?

Every new distro from mandriva on, applet tell you there is a new distro
that is not an *automatic update* it is just a suggestion. If click on it you
can *Updgrade* your system, or keep going on with the one you have it. Or even, if you like, ask applet not to bother you any more.
In the mean while if you don't do anything, the applet will tell you for any update packages coming, so it work as before without doing anything else.

Even, at the end of distro life, it won't bother you any more at least for
updates.

Is it buggy? maybe, but it works in that way.

Comment 5 Marja Van Waes 2015-03-31 16:04:05 CEST
Mageia 3 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status 4 months ago.
http://blog.mageia.org/en/2014/11/26/lets-say-goodbye-to-mageia-3/

Mageia 3 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
