Testing 64-bit MGA4 on real hardware...
 e-0.17.6-1.mga4 from updates/testing.
All dependancies were installed from release media.
Cannot log in from KDM at least. Screen goes blank for a few seconds, then returns to the login dialogue. Repeatedly, even after re-starting X or re-booting.

I was going to test on 32-bit but I can't even get the pre-update version to work, I keep getting a message saying that Enlightenment SEGV'd.

As my available time is limited, I'll have to stick to ISO testing and leave this one for someone else, sorry.

So it works quite fine with 0.17.5 but not with 0.17.6 ?

I'm surprised,I've done my test on real box, and it was working.
I'll test it again.

Sorry for being slow to respond.

In fact no. I removed the e update, then re-installed from core release media
 e-0.17.5-2.mga4
This too, on my real box, does not login; tried with KDM and LXDM. Screen goes blank for a few seconds, then returns to the login dialogue. I know I tested OK the last e update, so this problem puzzles me. Cannot find that bug report.
Happy to provide futher info if you advise me what/how.

Hi lewis,

It looks like an issue with pam (not sure).
May you look if there is something in the log (/var/log/...)
about authentification fails ?

May you create another account and try to log in this new account ?

Not winning. If there is something in /var/log/ or ~/ I cannot find it. Looked at everything that I thought might be relevant. Added a new user, same problem of login not working for E17 but OK with other desktops. Used LightDM.

Running a vm on Hyper-v I too cannot get 0.17.5 to install nor 0.17.6.

Same type report as Lewis, I can't find any logs or reason for e not to load, but it doesn't. xfce however does work with new and old users. I have a hardware x86 machine that i believe does have 0.17.5 running at home so I will try to upgrade it later.

Ran on x86 mda4 with real hardware with a system that had 0.17.5 already installed and running and the upgrade to 0.17.6 went fine. Normal Randr settings upgrade process happened and could not find any logs stating crashes or other issues and apps open fine. Still unsure why e didn't open on my vm's, couldn't find any logs, just right back to login.

Testing complete mga4 32 & 64

Just ensured I could log into enlightenment (task-e17) with the new e installed.
