Mate 1.6.2 on M4 x86_64 v2 does not support tapping the touchpad to do anything. Problem seen on 2 different laptops; Acer Extenza 5620Z using a Synaptics SynPS2 touchpad, and Acer using Elantech ETPS/2 touchpad. Showstopper; almost forgotton where that left-mouse-button is :-)

I assigned this bug report to myself :) I can not reproduce this problem with my Mageia 4 v.1 install, all updates applied on my Lenovo T430 laptop. There should nothing be changed with Magia 4 v.2 since only typing break support is enabled with the mate-control-center-1.6.2-1.1 update. Did you tried /usr/bin/mate-mouse-properties and under Touchpad tab is "Enable mouse clicks with touchpad" option selected?

That fixed it! Should tapping be enabled by default - wasn't obvious to a first-time user how to do it. Solved: Atilla, note my additional comments in qa re your first bugzilla-sourced email to qa re this; attempting to reply to that messag gave a non-address string: "=?ISO-8859-1?q?=20=22Atilla=20=C3=96NTA=C5=9E=22=20=3Cbugzilla-daemo?= =?ISO-8859-1?q?n=40mageia=2Eorg=3E?=" Anything need fixing in bugzilla? UTF8 issue?? Thanks for the education from you! Regards, Tonyb

But do not want to touch Mageia 4 package since it is not a really problem and it is not MATE' s and before GNOME2' s default.
OK, I appreciate that. The email thing I mentioned, just because I'd never seen before where clicking on 'return' in my email client gave a nonsense string rather than a useful return address - thought you'd like to know about it. Thanks, Tonyb
btw, maybe we should patch gnome too (as it's not set on as default), hi olav)
