Description Jari S 2011-05-15 20:02:22 CEST
Description of problem:
plymouth ask-for-password --prompt "$prompt" --command="/sbin/cryptsetup luksOpen -T1 $src $dst" on line 955 of initscripts.
displays password box which is on top of Mageia logo on bootsplash. This box should be moved to another position on the screen but I could not find any way to do it using plymouth command line.
This requires also https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1290 to be fixed, otherwise the password box is not shown.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
plymouth-0.8.3-12.mga1, initscripts-9.21-10.mga1

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Apply fix from https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1290
2. Create encrypted partition that uses /etc/crypttab
3. reboot

It depends on the plymouth plugin used in the theme.
two-step for example hardcodes the image position to the center, space-flares too, I did not check others.
Using "script" probably allows to do whatever you want.

mikala, maybe it's your padawan instead of you who will maintain the package (like mageia-gfxboot-theme) ?

@ Jari

is this bug still valid in current cauldron?

I cannot verify, since mounting encrypted partitions during boot is broken. See https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3223

This is also fixed with latest Cauldron updates as 2012-02-11. The problem was within systemd (bug 3223) not with plymouth.
