Description Sander Lepik 2011-05-14 14:04:19 CEST
Description of problem:
When root is on lvm then upgrading from mdv2010.2 breaks kernel line in menu.lst file.

Example:

root=/dev/lvm/whatever -> root=/dev

For some reason everything after /dev is missing.

After fixing it manually and updating kernel on Mageia everything works OK. So the problem occurs only when upgrading.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
So long has happened on two computers that had lvm partitions (read: every time when tested).

Steps to Reproduce:

Weird, i can't repeat it on Virtualbox. Everything seems to work fine there. Tho' i used dual iso for testing. But that shouldn't affect much.

It may have been caused and fixed by the same bug as in
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1041

Looks like https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=58196
but Pascal says it's fixed there...

No, I say there that I fixed a bug in Cooker making it work for me, but I don't know why it happened on his 2010.0.

Given that lvm detection had been partially broken in Cauldron recently, it may have been fixed by the lvm fix (Bug 1041).

I can't reproduce it on RC either. Marking resolved for now.
