Description of problem: Until Mageia 3 (included), if some PDF files were open with evince during a KDE session, the next KDE session used to recall which files were open. With Mageia 4, at KDE session restart, there as many evince windows open as PDF files were open with evince during the previous session, but these windows are empty. By contrast, the last PDF files open with okular are recalled. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evince-3.10.3-1.mga4 task-kde4-4.11.4-1.mga4 How reproducible: Every time a KDE session, where PDF files were open with evince, is closed and reopen. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start a KDE session. 2. Open some PDF files with evince. 3. Close the KDE session. 4. Start a new KDE session. 5. Observe the evince windows reopen. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
btw why using a gnome apps in kde ?

(In reply to Manuel Hiebel from comment #1) > btw why using a gnome apps in kde ? Because I like much more KDE than Gnome, but much more Evince than Okular: Evince is lighter and, if an external PDF file is the target of an hyperlink of the current PDF, the target PDF file is open: - with Evince in a new window (exactly what is expected), - with Okular in the same window, without anyway to come back to the first PDF file (very annoying).
Another annoying Okular feature is the exclusive modes "Navigate" and "Select". With Evince, the default one is "Select" and it becomes automatically "Navigate", depending on the context (if the cursor meets a link). Would it be possible to restore old behavior that lets KDE session recall which files were open in Evince? Thanks in anticipation.
Mageia 4 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-09-19. It is is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we weren't able to fix it before Mageia 4's end of life. If you are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. If it's valid in several versions, select the highest and add MGAxTOO in whiteboard for each other valid release. Example: it's valid in cauldron and Mageia 5, set to cauldron and add MGA5TOO. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. This bug is still alive with Mageia 5 except that, at KDE session restart, the reopen evince windows are not empty anymore and contain images of the last open PDF files that are links which open these files. But the expected behavior is the one until Mageia 3: if some PDF files were open with evince during a KDE session, the next KDE session should reopen these files (as it is the case for okular).

This bug is still alive with Mageia 6 and, as with Mageia 5, at KDE (Plasma) session restart, the reopen evince windows are not empty anymore and contain images of the last open PDF files that are links which open these files. But the expected behavior is the one until Mageia 3: if some PDF files were open with evince during a KDE session, the next KDE session should reopen these files (as it is the case for okular).

I think you are loking for something this: " - When built with DBus support a daemon is used to keep track of opened documents and reload them when reopened." See: https://git.gnome.org//browse/evince/commit/?id=66e5636dcaace0d9a98845490b09721c12ce3d2b

I have tested on MGA6 32, 64 bit and confirm: evince remembers last PDF files in one preview window, but it doesn't reopen last windows with PDF document after restart Plasma session.
Same observation on MGA6 64 bit.

Same problem on MGA7 64 bit.
It'd be better to use okular if you want Plasma session restoring to work.
(In reply to David Walser from comment #12) > It'd be better to use okular if you want Plasma session restoring to work. Yes but no :) See https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12699#c2.
Okular also has much better compatibility in my experience. As for your hyperlink issues, you can report them upstream.
