Description of problem: Attempts to use mcc to manage local disks stall, with last message Loading... Please wait Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Load Mageia Control Center from gui or launch mcc from terminal. 2. Click on Local disks 3. Click on Manage disk partitions This appears to result from a root problem with glib or some such, but work-arounds, patches, and other commentary I have found do not seem to address precisely my problem. Error messages on the terminal pertaining to line 823 of drakconf.real seem to be a marker for this problem. I depend heavily on mcc for managing disk partitions, and with install of Mageia 4 coming up I need to be able to look over and manage partitions on my three hard drives. Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
Rebooted. Had problems getting the machine to shutdown. Following reboot, mcc manage disk partitions is working properly. Somehow, reboot following updates at some time in the fairly recent past did not clear all the glitches. Unless further problems recur, I believe this bug should be killed as invalid.
what's exact message when running from a console (as a workaround you can give a try to gparted)
Manuel, The error message was "Loading... please wait" and MCC stalled at that point. I let it run for 10 or 15 minutes to see if something would time-out and allow it to continue, but no joy. As mentioned in my Comment 1, a reboot of the system seems to have cleared the problem. My guess is that the one reboot after earlier updates (glibc ?) did not get everything aligned properly, but when I rebooted again the glitch was cleared.
Closing as old since it seems to have been a one shot on one machine
